DESCRIPTION
Ultrasound Evaluation of Intima-Media Thickness Training Video is designed to discuss the importance of performing IMT examinations, how to perform IMT measurements. How to apply the information obtained for effective management of patients who are at risk for cardiovascular disease is also covered.
TARGET AUDIENCE
Physicians, PA’s, sonographers, sonography students, and other medical professionals who will be involved with performing and/or interpreting cerebrovascular duplex/color flow imaging examinations. Physicians may include (but is not limited to) radiology, general surgery, vascular surgery, neurologists, cardiology, internal medicine, and primary care.
OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this enduring material activity, you should be able to accomplish the following:
1. Select appropriate patients for Intima-Media Thickness measurements.
2. Measure the Intima-Media Thickness in individual patients accurately and reproducibly.
3. Apply the Intima-Media Thickness measurement to planning appropriate management of cardiovascular risk factors.
4. Increase knowledge to begin integrating the skills learned into clinical practice.
